PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allocate an optimal car using uncertain information concerning future arrival of passengers.SOLUTION: A set of probability distributions concerning future arrivals of passengers on an arbitrary floor of a building is characterized with a probability variable with which future arrival information of passengers is identified. The arrival information includes a probability of a service request to be made by a passenger in the future, and a probability of a time at which the service request may be made. By producing the set of probability distributions of future arrivals of passengers, elevator cars of an elevator group system in the building are scheduled. A controller of the elevator group system is provided with the schedule, and operates the elevator cars according to the schedule.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1A
