PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seal structure of a rotary vane type steering machine which can cope with elevation of a hydraulic oil pressure.SOLUTION: In an actuator 1 of a rotary vane type steering machine, an upper lateral seal 12f, a lower lateral sear 12h and a vertical seal 12j of a rotor vane 12d and a vertical seal 11d of a housing segment 11b respectively have a seal area of which both edge side parts form a sealing lip part, have an undercut part in each seal area which extends from each edge side part to a midship part, have a bank part on the midship part of each seal area which planarly contacts a mating surface, have micro-pores which are bored at prescribed intervals on a longitudinal direction center line and are communicated with a back face of each seal area, and further have an oil groove in each seal area which is so formed as to be communicated with each opening and to have a prescribed length in a longitudinal direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 13
