PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To clearly distinguish whether a collision object is an obstacle with low height or a pedestrian.SOLUTION: Between a bumper beam 13 and a shock absorbing material 15a provided on an inner surface of a bumper face 11, one flexible tube 21a divided into an upper tube part 21c and a lower tube part 21d through a U-shaped folding portion 21b is arranged. At end portions of the tube parts 21c and 21d, upper and lower pressure sensors 21u and 21l are respectively provided. If a collision object is an obstacle with low height, the lower tube part 21d is more largely smashed than the upper tube part 21c, so that time difference Δt between times when both pressure sensors 21l and 21u detect pressure peak values Pl and Pu becomes large. On the other hand, if the collision object is a pedestrian, the lower tube part 21d and the upper tube part 21c are smashed at generally the same time, the time different Δt becomes small. Therefore, by measuring the time difference Δt, it can be distinguished whether the collision object is the obstacle with low height or the pedestrian.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

    【課題】衝突物体が高さの低い障害物か歩行者かを明確に識別できるようにする。【解決手段】バンパビーム13とバンパフェース11の内面に設けた衝撃吸収材15aとの間に、U字状折返部21bを介して上チューブ部位21cと下チューブ部位21dとに区分された1本のフレキシブルチューブ21aを配設し、各チューブ部材21c,21dの端部に上下圧力センサ21u,21lを設ける。衝突物体が高さの低い障害物の場合、下チューブ部位21dが上チューブ部位21cよりも大きく押潰されるため、両圧力センサ21l,21uで検出する圧力ピーク値Pl,Puを検出する時刻の時間差Δtが大きくなる。一方、衝突物体が歩行者の場合、下チューブ部位21dと上チューブ部位21cとがほぼ同時刻に押潰されるため、小さな時間差Δtとなる。従って、この時間差Δtを計測することで衝突物体が高さの低い障害物か歩行者かを識別することができる。【選択図】図1
