PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable highly precise estimation of driving load, using an inter-vehicle time.SOLUTION: The distance between a first vehicle (one's own vehicle) and second vehicle (another vehicle) running ahead of the first vehicle, and the running speed of the first vehicle are detected. Subsequently, a time (inter-vehicle time) that the first vehicle takes to reach the current position of the second vehicle is calculated based on the detected distance and running speed of the first vehicle. Further, a driving load is estimated based on the inter-vehicle time and the running speed of the first vehicle. The driving load is estimated so that the driving load becomes smaller as the running speed of the first vehicle becomes larger when under the condition that the inter-vehicle time is fixed. This is realistic estimation of a driving load, which enables precise grasp of driving load, using the inter-vehicle time.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

    【課題】車間時間を利用して運転負荷を高い精度で推定することが可能となる。【解決手段】自車両の前方を走行している他車両と前記自車両との車間距離と、自車両の走行速度を検出する。続いて、車間距離と自車両の走行速度に基づいて、他車両の現在位置に自車両が到達するまでの時間(車間時間)を算出する。そして、車間時間および自車両の走行速度に基づいて運転負荷を推定する。このとき、車間時間が同じであれば自車両の走行速度が大きいほど運転負荷が小さくなるように、運転負荷を推定する。こうすると実情に沿って運転負荷を推定することとなるので、車間時間を利用して運転負荷を高い精度で推定することができる。【選択図】図1
