PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately identify an area where an own vehicle travels, even though a white line does not exist on a road.SOLUTION: A vehicle outside environment recognition device 120 comprises: a traffic light identification section 166 for identifying one or more traffic lights included in image data acquired from a photographing device 110; an own vehicle area identification section 170 for identifying an own vehicle area where the own vehicle is supposed to travel on the basis of a position of the identified traffic light; and a moving object identification section 174 for identifying a moving object in the own vehicle area. Therefore, the device can identify the own vehicle area on the basis of the position of the traffic light, regardless of whether the white line exists or not.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
