PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized thermomagnetic cycle device.SOLUTION: An air conditioner 1 as a thermal apparatus includes a magnetocaloric heat pump device (MHP device) 11 as a thermomagnetic cycle device. The MHP device 11 utilizes magnetocaloric effect of a magnetocaloric element (MCE element) 12 disposed between a low temperature end 12a and a high temperature end 12b. The MHP device 11 has a magnetic field modulation device 13 for modulating a magnetic field applied to the MCE element 12. The magnetic field modulation device 13 modulates the magnetic field with relative movement of the MCE element 12 and a magnetic force source 13a. The MHP device 11 has an outer rotor type motor 17. The magnetic field modulation device 13 utilizes an outer peripheral surface of an outer rotor 72. In one embodiment, the magnetic force source 13a is provided on the outer peripheral surface of the outer rotor 72. In another embodiment, the MCE element is provided on the outer peripheral surface of the outer rotor 72.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
