PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling structure of a V-belt type continuously variable transmission, which can effectively separate gas and liquid to inhibit water and foreign matter from entering a belt chamber and is simplified in structure to allow reduction of the size in a vehicle width direction.SOLUTION: In a cooling structure of a V-belt type continuously variable transmission, a transmission case 4, which integrally has a crank case 5a supporting a crankshaft 51, is provided on the side of a rear wheel 16 of a saddle riding type vehicle 1, the V-belt type continuously variable transmission 40 is housed in a belt chamber 70 which is formed by the transmission case and a transmission case cover 7, and the transmission case cover is formed with a suction opening 72 for introducing cooling air into the belt chamber. The transmission case cover is formed with a recess 71 which is hollowed to the belt chamber side, and the suction opening is formed in the recess. An outer cover 9 for covering the recess is attached to the transmission case cover. On the outer side in the vehicle width direction than the suction opening and in an outer surface mating portion 97 between the outer cover and the transmission case cover, an air intake opening 90 is formed. An air chamber 91 for introducing air, which provides communication between the air intake opening and the suction opening, is formed by the recess and the outer cover.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8

    【課題】気液分離が効果的にできてベルト室への水や異物の浸入を抑制でき、構造が簡素化され、車幅方向に小型化が可能となるVベルト式無段変速機の冷却構造。【解決手段】クランク軸51を支承するクランクケース5aを一体に有する伝動ケース4が鞍乗型車両1の後輪16の側方に設けられ、伝動ケースと伝動ケースカバー7とで形成されるベルト室70に、Vベルト式無段変速機40が収容され、伝動ケースカバーには冷却風をベルト室に導入する吸入口72が形成されるVベルト式無段変速機の冷却構造において、伝動ケースカバーにはベルト室側へ凹む凹部71が形成され、凹部内に吸入口が形成され、凹部を覆う外側カバー9が伝動ケースカバーに取付けられ、吸入口よりも車幅方向外側で、且つ外側カバーと伝動ケースカバーとの外側面合わせ部97に空気取入口90が形成され、凹部と外側カバーとで、空気取入口と吸入口とが連通する空気導入用気室91が形成された。【選択図】図8
