PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic transmission capable of disposing a parking lock mechanism in a compact manner in a transmission case accommodating a plurality of rotating shafts in parallel with each other, and being reduced in a size and a weight.SOLUTION: A virtual line L2 being in parallel with a straight line L1 passing through a center point O1 of an output shaft through hole 92d and a center point O2 of a counter shaft through hole 92e, and kept into contact with a lower half portion of an addendum circle C1 of a parking gear 73, is drawn. In a case where the center point O1 of the output shaft through hole 92d and the center point O2 of the counter shaft through hole 92e are respectively projected onto the virtual line L2, a rotating shaft holding portion 82b is disposed to intersect the virtual line L2 between a projection point P1 of the center point O1 of the output shaft through hole 92d and a projection point P2 of the center point O2 of the counter shaft through hole 92e to the virtual line L2.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
