PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charging stand for an electric vehicle or a hybrid-electric vehicle.SOLUTION: An electrical charging system comprises a charging coil 110 and an energy storage device battery 406 coupled to the charging coil 110. The electrical charging system further comprises an energy charging station 404 comprising a charging coil 106 which is disposed on a movable positioner and connectable to an electrical energy source 410, at least one drive mechanism configured to translate the movable positioner, and a system controller. The system controller detects an event indicative of a proximity of the charging coil 110 to the energy charging stand, translates the movable positioner such that the charging coil 106 is substantially aligned with and closely spaced apart from the charging coil 110, thereby forming an electrical transformer. The system controller initiates a charging cycle configured to transfer electrical energy to the at least one energy storage device via the electrical transformer.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
