PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ocean exploratory device which achieves efficient exploration, and to provide an ocean exploratory method.SOLUTION: An ocean exploratory device 10 includes: an exploratory machine body 11; a buoyancy adjustment part which adjusts buoyancy occurring in the exploratory machine body; a posture adjustment part 14 which adjusts posture of the exploratory machine body; a position information acquisition part which acquires position information of the exploratory machine body; a vane part 12 which moves the exploratory machine body by utilizing a lift force received from sea water; a sensor part which is provided at the exploratory machine body and measures an electromagnetic field; and a control part which controls operations of the buoyancy adjustment part, the posture adjustment part, the position information acquisition part, and the sensor part according to predetermined conditions.
