PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detection device and a steering lock device capable of suppressing such misdetermination that a magnetic field generator is detected in front of a reference position even in a case where a relative position between the magnetic field generator and a magnetic detection element is shifted.SOLUTION: A position detection device 1 comprises: a first magnetic detection element 12 arranged so that a detection center 120 is located at an intersection point between a circumference of a circle with a point obtained by projecting a center of a magnetic field 181 onto a loading surface 10a of a substrate 10 as a center, and a first straight line 100 based on a locus of a magnet 18 on the loading surface 10a; a second magnetic detection element 13 arranged so that a detection center 130 is located at one of two intersection points between a second straight line 101 orthogonal to the first straight line and the circumference; a third magnetic detection element 14 arranged so that a detection center 140 is located at the other intersection point; and a controller 20 that determines detection of a magnetic field generator not by a detection result of the magnetic detection element that firstly detected the magnet 18 but by detection of the magnet 18 by the remaining magnetic detection elements.
