PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a target setting device capable of appropriately setting a target for correcting sight line detection means regardless of an image entering eyes of a subject.SOLUTION: A target setting device includes: sight line range estimation means (S1) for estimating a sight line range where the line of sight of a subject moves; candidate point extraction means (S3, S4) for extracting a candidate point of a target from the sight line range estimated by the sight line range estimation means; candidate point evaluation means (S5) for evaluating appropriateness as a target of the candidate point extracted by the candidate point extraction means by a plurality of indexes; and target setting means (S6-S11) for determining whether the candidate point is set to the target or not, based on the appropriateness as a target evaluated by the candidate point evaluation means.
