PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety system for a fuel cell vehicle and a control method thereof.SOLUTION: A safety system for a fuel cell vehicle using electric power from a power supply including a fuel cell and a high-voltage battery is provided in this embodiment, the safety system including: a power switch arranged in the power wiring connecting the power supply and an electric power load; an insulation resistance measuring device for measuring the insulation resistance between the power wiring and a chassis; and a control part for controlling the operation of the power switch on the basis of the insulation resistance measurement value measured by the insulation resistance measuring device. When the insulation resistance measurement value is equal to or less than a reference resistance value, the control part enters a safety mode to turn off the power switch to shut off the power supplied to the electric power load.
