PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lock device and an electric steering lock device whose increase in size is suppressed and which has redundancy for drive control of a motor.SOLUTION: A lock device comprises: a magnet 37 which is attached to a lock bar 36 displaced between a lock position and an unlock position on the basis of drive of a motor, and which has an S-pole facing the surface of a substrate 40; a first hole IC41 of S-pole detection type which is attached to the surface of the substrate 40, and faces the magnet 37 when the lock bar 36 is positioned at the unlock position; a second hole IC42 of an N-pole detection type which is attached to the rear surface of the substrate 40, and at a position making plane symmetry with the substrate 40 as a symmetric axis; and a motor control part which controls power feeding to a motor through a detection result of at least one of the first and second holes IC41, 42.
