PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a driver to easily confirm the situation behind a vehicle at night.SOLUTION: A luminance of a region where a headlight of a following vehicle is imaged, in a rear image is detected and in the case where the luminance exceeds a predetermined threshold, correction is performed to decrease the luminance in the region where the headlight is imaged. At such a time, in a first region including a central portion of the headlight, a degree of decreasing the luminance is suppressed more than a second region that is provided while surrounding the first region. Thus, even if the headlight of the following vehicle dazzling in the rear image, the luminance is decreased while excluding the central portion of the headlight, such that the driver to confirm the rear image is prevented from feeling the headlight of the following vehicle dazzling. The central portion of the headlight is imaged bright, thereby easily grasping a position of the following vehicle from a position of the headlight.

    【課題】夜間時に運転者が車両の後方の状況を容易に確認できるようにする。【解決手段】後方画像で後続車両の前照灯が写った箇所の輝度を検出して、輝度が所定の閾値を超えていた場合には、前照灯が写った領域での輝度を減少させる補正を行う。この時、前照灯の中心部分を含む第1領域では、その第1領域を囲んで設けられた第2領域よりも、輝度を減少させる程度を抑制しておく。こうすれば、後方画像中で後続車両の前照灯が眩しい場合でも、前照灯の中心部分を除いて輝度が減少されるので、後方画像を確認する運転者が後続車両の前照灯を眩しく感じることがない。前照灯の中心部分は明るく写るので、前照灯の位置から後続車両の位置を容易に把握することができる。【選択図】図8
