PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydraulic damper which can be formed light in weight and low in cost, and can avoid interference with a vehicle body side part by a spring collar which can be flexibly adapted to a variety of layouts of different vehicle types.SOLUTION: In a hydraulic damper, a part of a piston rod at an axel side is inserted into a vehicle body side cylinder 2 from below, a piston connected to an upper end part facing the inside of the cylinder 2 of the piston rod is made to slidably slide-contact with an internal periphery of the cylinder 2, a suspension spring is interposed between the cylinder 2 and the piston rod via upper and lower spring receivers, and a spring collar 22 is interposed between a vehicle body side attachment member which is connected to the upper end of the cylinder 2 and the upper spring receiver. The spring collar 22 is cylindrically arranged by circumferentially and alternately arranging a plurality of internal contact parts 22a which contact with an external periphery of the cylinder 2, and a plurality of external contact parts 22b which are bulged to the outside of a radial direction rather than the internal contact parts 22a.
