PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an outboard engine that prevents the weight of a crankshaft and the like from being applied to a thrust bearing from above, when the crankshaft is arranged in parallel with a gravitational direction.SOLUTION: An outboard engine comprises an engine that can be freely mounted in a hull in such a manner that a crankshaft 20 is parallel to a gravity axis, and a vertical shaft 42 that is connected to the crankshaft 20 of the engine in such a manner as to be freely rotatable around the gravity axis. Urging means 50 for urging the crankshaft 20 upward in a direction parallel to the gravity axis is provided between the crankshaft 20 and the vertical shaft 42.
