PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the stability of vehicle behavior during vehicle turning when actual torque of one of motors drops lower than required torque by a driver and traveling is continued by controlling the other motor.SOLUTION: In an electric automobile 1, a device for independently driving right and left wheels with motors comprises a left motor/generator 2 driving the left rear wheel RL, a right motor/generator 3 driving the right rear wheel RR, and a controller 15 controlling the torque generated by the right and left motor/generators according to required torque by a driver. In the device, there are provided a steering angle detection device 11 which detects a turning direction of the electric automobile, and a torque drop detection device 10 which detects dropping of actual torque in either of the right and left motor/generators relative to the required torque by the driver. The controller, when dropping of actual torque in the right motor/generator is detected, sets a torque upper limit value of the left motor/generator on the basis of the turning direction of the electric automobile.

    【課題】一方のモータの実トルクがドライバの要求トルクより低下し、他方のモータを制御して走行を継続した場合に、車両旋回時の車両挙動の安定性を向上する。【解決手段】電気自動車1の、左後輪RLを駆動する左モータ/ジェネレータ2と、右後輪RRを駆動する右モータ/ジェネレータ3と、ドライバの要求トルクに応じて、左右モータ/ジェネレータに発生させるトルクを制御するコントローラ15と、を備えた左右輪独立モータ駆動装置において、電気自動車の旋回方向を検出する操舵角検出装置11と、ドライバの要求トルクに対して、左右モータ/ジェネレータのうちいずれかの実トルクが低下していることを検出するトルク低下検出装置10と、を設け、コントローラは、右モータ/ジェネレータの実トルクの低下を検出した時、電気自動車の旋回方向に基づいて、左モータ/ジェネレータのトルク上限値を設定する。【選択図】図1
