PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple pump design that is bidirectional and can pump 360 degrees without the need for complicated valving.SOLUTION: A self-inflating tire assembly 10 comprises: a tire 12; and a first and a second air tube 41, 42 attached to the tire and defining an air passageway. The air tubes are composed of a flexible material operative to allow a portion of the air tube segment near a tire footprint to close the passageway, and each have an inlet 41a, 42a and an outlet 41b, 42b. The inlet 41a of the first air tube 41 is in fluid communication with the inlet 42a of the second air tube 42, and the outlet 41b of the first air tube 41 and the outlet 42b of the second air tube 42 are in fluid communication with a tire cavity.
