PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a train and a railway system.SOLUTION: A vehicle main body 3 comprises a high efficiency power converter 4, a permanent magnet type synchronous motor 7 and a control section 5. The power converter 4 converts DC power to be supplied from an overhead wire 2 to a predetermined DC voltage. The permanent magnet type synchronous motor 7 drives wheels of a vehicle by an AC voltage converted by the power converter 4. The control section 5 calculates in braking of the vehicle the total amount of regenerative power generated in the permanent magnet type synchronous motor 7 on the basis of an arrangement status of the overhead wire 2 in each section and a service status of the vehicle main body 3; and outputs a deceleration command signal for setting the maximum deceleration so that the calculated regenerative power does not exceed the maximum regenerative power in a predetermined overhead-wire section when the vehicle main body 3 reaches a point to start deceleration.
