PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ESL which reduces unlock drive time as much as possible in order to shorten time from a start of operation of a start-push switch to a start of an engine.SOLUTION: The electric steering lock device comprises: a motor 15 that interlocks and moves a lock bolt 12; an ESL control portion 32 that controls a motor control relay 39 forming a power supply passage of the motor 15; lock bolt-position detecting means 41; an upper-level ECU 30 that transmits a lock-drive request signal or an unlock-drive request signal to the ESL control portion 32 and switches and operates the motor control relay 39; and power supply restricting circuit 40 provided in the power supply passage of the motor 15. The electric steering lock device includes a switch element 55 that responds to a detection signal by the lock bolt-position detecting means 41 when the lock bolt 12 is present at a lock position and switches and operates the motor control relay 39 before receiving the unlock drive request signal from the upper-level ECU 30.

    【課題】 スタートプッシュスイッチの操作からエンジンが始動するまでの時間を短縮させるため、アンロック駆動時間を可能な限り短縮させたESLを提供すること。【解決手段】 ロックボルト12を連動して移動させるモータ15と、このモータ15の給電経路を形成するモータ制御リレー39を制御するESL制御部32と、ロックボルト位置検出手段41と、ESL制御部32にロック駆動要求信号またはアンロック駆動要求信号を送り、モータ制御リレー39を切り換え動作させる上位ECU30と、モータ15の給電経路に設けた電力供給制限回路40とを備え、前記ロックボルト12がロック位置にあるときのロックボルト位置検出手段41の検出信号に応動し、上位ECU30からのアンロック駆動要求信号を受信する前に、モータ制御リレー39を切り換え動作させるスイッチ素子55を設けた構成となっている。【選択図】図1
