A pro-active road precaution system for vehicles 3 or motorcycles comprises a PCU unit which has a range of sensors including impact and accelerometers to collate advancing roads data, along with a GPS unit to triangulate the PCU or vehicle’s location. A microcontroller in the PCU sends signals to physical driver alert units in a steering wheel cover or motorcycles hand grips, aided by an LCD display alert. The system is connected via the internet 2 using a two-way transmitter to a central server 1, i.e. a large hard drive holding the latest pothole or traffic data for each geographical location. This communication is aided by GSM centre 4 and may be performed on the driver’s phone or a public or home Wi-Fi hotspot. The microcontroller may request the latest data regarding potholes, traffic situations, obstructions or debris in the current location, store the temporary data and send a signal to the alert system as the driver approaches each pothole.
