An elongate load 12, such as a monopile, is upended by suspending the load from a hoisting tool 18 with a reconfigurable frame 44. The frame has an upper frame member 46 through which the tool is pivotably suspended from an upper pivot axis 54 and a lower frame member 48 movable relative to the upper frame member. A variable-length upper link 24 extends from an upper side of the load to a pull-in system, such as a drum 72 with tapered reels, supported by the frame. A lower link of fixed (36 fig.4b) or variable length 26 extends from the load on a lower side to a lower pivot axis 56 that is movable with the lower frame member. During reconfiguration, the upper frame member pivots about the upper pivot axis 54 to move a suspension point of the upper link toward an upright axis.
