A hydraulically operated loader crane assembly configured to be mounted on a vehicle or on a trailer (figure 10) comprises a stabilizer arm, a loader crane base 102, a loader crane column 1020, a boom 1024, a jib 1026, and an overload light 1018. A rotational actuator 1016, a first ram 1022, a second ram 1028 and a third ram 1032 provide movement of the loader crane assembly. A control system receives inputs from a transducer (202 figure 2) monitoring pressure in the lower section of the first ram 1022, a tilt sensor (204 figure 2) monitoring tilt of the jib 1026 and a slew sensor (206 figure 2) monitoring rotation of the loader crane column 1020. Further input is provided by either leg pressure sensors (208 figure 2) measuring the support provided by vertical legs 1014 or a second tilt sensor (10040 figure 10) measuring a lateral angle of the stabilizer arm. The control system controls lifting movements of the loader crane assembly and various displayed conditions. The control of movement and the displayed conditions depend on whether the current value of the lifting load stress is either less than 80% of a stability limit value of lifting load stress, between 80% and 100% of the limit value, or at 100% of the limit value. An overload light 1018 comprises a green light emitting diode (LED), an amber LED and a red LED which are illuminated by the control system.
