An aerodynamic drag reduction fairing device 100 is provided for mounting to a rear of a vehicle 102, particularly a commercial cargo vehicle. Fairing device 100 has a protruding portion with a first position and arcuately deviates from the first position under load, for example when door 110 is closed or on impact with an obstruction 114. An elastic element stores a potential energy of the protruding portion when under load, so that, when the load is reduced, the protruding portion is restored towards the first position by the potential energy stored in the elastic element. The arcuate deviation may be towards or away from a rear of the vehicle or towards a door of the vehicle. The protruding portion, a surface of the elastic surface and a mounting portion may define a closed cross-sectional shape which may be polygonal. A frame comprising the fairing is also provided.
