An interior of a hollow wingtip device 200 defines a compartment 250, and at least a part of the winglet can be attached to an aircraft wing (fig.1,140) so it may be removed and reinstalled without causing damage, by using removable rivets, for example. Preferably, weatherproof seals are provided between the winglet and wing. The winglet is preferably not transmissive to electromagnetic radiation in the visible range, and may be a radome. The compartment may contain a number of dividers 254, stringers 256 and frames 258, which may be transmissive to radio frequency electromagnetic radiation. The winglet may contain mountings 292 inside the compartment for installing electrical equipment 290 such as an antenna and/or sensor, when the winglet is mounted on an aircraft a conduit 122 is connected to the equipment to connect it to a power source inside the aircraft. Also claimed is a hollow wingtip device with a cover (fig.3,370) for an opening (fig.3,360) providing access to a compartment in the winglet interior.
