A working machine (10 fig 1a) comprises a ground engaging structure for providing propulsion over a ground surface; a chassis (12 fig 1a) mounted to the ground engaging structure; an operator cab (30 fig 1a) mounted to the chassis (12) and a gas engine 25 for providing propulsive power. A gas storage system 38 comprises at least one storage tank 40a-c for storing gaseous fuel for the gas engine; and a purge valve 62 for removing gaseous fuel from the tanks. A purge mode comprises opening the tank valve 42 when the engine 25 is in an inactive stage. A method of commissioning the gas storage system 38 comprises the use of an inert gas and comprises steps including refuelling. The invention seeks to provide an improved working machine or gas storage system usable with for example a hydrogen combustion engine with accompanying emissions improvements.
