A steering system 100 for a camera dolly, particularly for film shooting, is provided. The system includes a steering column 110 connectable to steerable wheels of a camera dolly by first motion transmission means and rotatable around its central axis to rotate the steerable wheels. A handlebar 111 is integrally connected to steering column 110 and is movable to rotate the steering column. A support body 120 contains the first motion transmission means, and comprises a bell-shaped sleeve 121 coaxial to and at least partially receiving steering column 110 which is pivotable with respect to sleeve 121. A central position indication element 130 engages when steering column 110 is in a central position, with sleeve 121 having a first through hole 122 in which indication element 130 is at least partly inserted and steering column 110 having a first recess 112 alignable to first through hole 122 when the steering column is in the central position, so that indication element 130 at least partly enters first recess 112 when steering column 110 is in the central position.
