A fault detection module comprises live 12, neutral 14 and earth 16 inputs for connection to an electrical power supply and live 74, neutral 76 and earth 78 outputs for supplying power to an electrical installation. Live, neutral and earth conductors electrically connect the inputs to the outputs. A first PCB-mounted relay 18 has a first normally-open contact arranged to switch the live conductor and a second normally-open contact arranged to switch the neutral conductor. A second PCB-mounted relay 36 has a first, second and third normally-open contacts arranged to switch the live, neutral and earth conductors. The first and second PCB-mounted relays are arranged in series. Control circuitry generates a first control signal to control activation of the first PCB mounted relay and a second control signal to control activation of the second PCB15 mounted relay, the first control signal being dependent on a demand for electrical power from the electrical installation and the second control signal being dependent on a status of the electrical power supply.
