An electric vehicle (EV) charger adapter 500 includes an incoming power connection point 506A electrically coupled to an EV charger and an outgoing power connection point 506C electrically coupled to a vehicle. A switch 106, which may be a relay, controls the flow of charge between the incoming and outgoing connection points. A processor 110, coupled to the switch, includes a wireless communication interface 112 which communicates with a remote device D01, which may be a server. The communication interface receives a request to charge an EV which includes a requested charging amount. The processor actuates the switch based on an indication measured by a charge meter 502 that the amount of charge is equal to or greater than the requested amount. The adaptor may have a securing means that can reversibly attach the incoming power connection to the EV charger. The securing means may include a lid portion which could be reversibly affixed to a housing.
