A flying drone 10 comprising a fuselage 100 split into a port section 102 and starboard section 104 with a slot 106 between sections extending the length of the fuselage. A cannon 200 is mounted pivotably in the slot by a trunnion mounting assembly 110 either to the port and/or starboard sections. The barrel 202 of the cannon can be raised or lowered (elevated or depressed) relative to the axis of the fuselage to aim up or down. The cannon generates recoil in a vector and is mounted such that the recoil vector passes though the centre of mass of the drone. A bracing member 130 may join the port and starboard sections. A control unit 146 and actuator 132 may control the angle of the barrel and the orientation of the drone. The cannon may have a calibre in the range of 12.7 mm to 40 mm, or 20 mm to 40 mm. the drone may have rotors to generate thrust. Also claimed is a method of user control or aim the barrel and control the drone.
