The system 100 includes a hub 104, on which a wheel 102 is mountable, with a threaded surface 116. A nut 106 is engageable with the threaded surface to fasten the wheel to the hub. A tool 108 including a socket 132 is engageable with the nut. A reaction element 134 is engageable with a reaction surface (126, Figure 2b) on the hub or the wheel. When the wheel is mounted on the hub and the nut is engaged with the threaded surface, the socket and the reaction element are simultaneously engageable with the nut and the reaction surface, respectively. A gearbox (600, Figure 6a) is configured to simultaneously apply opposing torques to the socket and the reaction element. In this manner, the tool can be used to simultaneously apply opposing torques to the nut and the reaction surface. A planetary gear system may have a motor to apply torque to an input of the gearbox. The socket may be arranged concentrically around the reaction element or vice versa. The reaction element may include protrusions (140, Figure 4a) engageable in reaction openings (122, Figure 3a). The tool may also include an anchoring feature 148 such as a ball detent mechanism.
