A mobile electric power supply 110 which may comprise either a replacement battery for a work vehicle or a charger suitable for providing power to a battery of the work vehicle. The mobile power supply includes a coupler 120 (310, fig.3) for connection to a transporter vehicle coupler 140 (320, fig.3) for transportation by the transporter vehicle 130. The coupler may include vertical or horizontal locking pins or wedges, and the transporter vehicle may be a skid-steer (fig.5A) or an industrial material mover. The power supply, work vehicle, and transporter vehicle may communicate to exchange properties of the power supply and work vehicle. Based on those properties a controller of the power supply may decide whether to move the two vehicles together in order to supply power to the work vehicle. The properties communicated may include the health status of the power supply unit, charging rate, and availability, and/or the work vehicle’s state of charge (SoC), battery capacity, target SoC, battery voltage, or battery temperature.
