A sheave assembly 20 has a housing 21 with a feature 22 for attaching the sheave assembly to an external mounting point. The assembly also has a sheave wheel 23 rotatably mounted to the housing. The housing a pair of flanges 25a, 25b extending radially past a periphery of the wheel defining a guide channel 26 aligned with the sheave wheel. The flanges extend around the circumference of the sheave wheel which may have a groove 31. The housing may have a recess 28, between housing plates 27a, 27b, that houses a bearing 24 and the wheel. The sheave may be used as part of a wireline or slickline assembly (40 fig.7) having two sheave assemblies (20A, 20B fig.7) with an anchor point. A load measurement unit (42 fig.7) may have sheaves (20C, 20D fig.7) that are pivotable around each-other, using pivot point (52 fig.8), and a load cell (54 fig.8) for measuring wire tension.
