A vehicle body panel 30 comprises a fibre-filled composite material skin panel 32 and a stiffener 40 comprising a foam core 42, wrapped in fibrous material 44 bonded to the foam core and to the skin panel using resin. The stiffener may be moulded into a skin panel recess 34. Further stiffeners may be located parallel to or perpendicular to the first stiffener, on either side of the skin panel. Foam cores may be mounted contiguously along a recess (Fig. 6), so that resin forms walls across the recess. The cores may have rectangular, square, or tapered cross-sections, and may comprise a recess to allow mounting of another component. The fibrous material may comprise braided tubes or socks. A method of construction of a body panel is disclosed. A vehicle body frame (1, Fig. 1) comprises at least one such panel.
