A lightning strike protection material (fig.1,1), suitable for an aircraft, has an electrically conductive grid (fig.1,2) formed by a number of grid members 3A-3E and a number of nodes 4A,4B where the grid-members overlap or intersect. Two or more of the grid-members and/or nodes include an outward facing surface 10, at least part of which is concave 5A-5C. The concave surface may focus the vaporisation of the material using the Munroe effect. The material may be used to form a laminate (fig.4,200) for aircraft along with a composite material (fig.4,201) and one or more layers of paint (fig.4,202) overlying the lightning strike protection material. Also claimed is a lightning strike protection material with an electrically conductive sheet in the form of a lattice with a first face (fig.4,10) and a second face (fig.4,11), the lattice formed from a number of lattice members and a multiple nodes located at the meeting point of lattice members. Two or more of the lattice-members have a concave surface that faces away from the first face.
