Wheeled aircraft landing gear includes an axle sleeve 10 having a low-friction wear surface 19 with a ring 20 of composite material. The sleeve may be disposed circumferentially around the axle 9 of an aircraft landing gear. The wear surface prevents axle damage from temperature changes or rubbing and/or flexing caused by vibrations from a braking system. The composite material may comprise fibres in a polymer matrix, the polymer being PTFE and the fibre being glass, carbon, Kevlar [RTM], basalt, PTFE, cotton, wood, and/or paper. The low-friction surface may stand proud of an internal surface of the sleeve. There may be a plurality of low friction surfaces. The low friction surface may be at one end of the sleeve, adjacent to a braking system. A method may involve forming a low-friction material and bonding it to a sleeve surface, curing the material, and machining the material to predetermined dimensions.
