An aircraft brake temperature control system (BTCS) 100 and method for controlling a temperature of a brake 220 of a landing gear of an aircraft 200. The system 100 comprises a controller 110 configured to cause at least one fluid moving device (e.g. brake cooling fan BCF 230 on the landing gear; auxiliary fans 231, 232 in landing gear bay) to drive a flow of fluid onto the brake 220 to control the temperature of the brake 220. This is done selectively in one of a plurality of modes, for example modes with different fan speeds and/or fluid flow rates. The mode may be selected based on the measured temperature of the brakes, e.g. using temperature sensor 220S. The controller may control the opening of external air inlet 240 and outlet 250 vents to cause intake into and exhaust of air from an internal environment which includes the brakes. Also claimed is a fluid movement system comprising a controller configured to determine an extent of operation of a powered conveyor (i.e. fan, blower) used to move the fluid by forced convection and to cause the powered conveyor to operate based on whether the aircraft is airborne or on the ground.
