A self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) connector 110 comprising male 111 and female 112 parts that connect to provide a fluid coupling. The male part has a profiled plug body 116. The female part comprises a locking cage 122 having at least one locking member aperture 124, at least one locking member 126 such as a ball disposed in a respective locking member aperture, a locking bush 134, a back body 138, a locking sleeve 144, and a valve 158. The or each locking member aperture extends into a locking member travel path 125 extending at an acute angle to the longitudinal axis of the female part. The locking apertures may be circumferentially space around the part and locking members may be guided by a cam surface 146 of the locking sleeve. The locking bush may be biased against the locking member. The male part may comprise a valve 118.
