A drive unit 10 for a skid steered vehicle has a controlled differential 20 between two shafts 12, each of which forming an output 11 of drive unit 10 and being connected directly to differential outputs 28a, 28b via shafts 12. One or more (typically two) steer motors 60 are drivably connected to differential 20, and one or more (typically two) electric propulsion motors 70 are drivably connected to drive unit outputs 11. A gear reduction unit and/or a gear change unit 40 is positioned between differential 10 and electric propulsion motors 70. The electric propulsion motors and gear reduction units/gear change units are connected in a parallel connection with differential outputs 28a, 28b to drive unit outputs 11. Also disclosed is a gear change unit with an epicyclic gear reduction unit and a slidable dog clutch, and also a drive configuration and a vehicle.
