An aircraft 1 comprises one or more renewable energy-related technologies integrated within the structure of the wings 20. A photovoltaic energy generating system (36 fig 3a) is integrated into a first element of an aircraft aerofoil structure, a piezoelectric energy generating system (26, fig 2b) is integrated into a second element of the aerofoil structure and an energy storage system (46, fig 4b) is integrated into a third element. The photovoltaic and piezoelectric energy-generating systems are formed within the skin of an aircraft wing structure. The energy storage system may comprise a solid-state battery forming a load bearing part of the aircraft structure. The aircraft may include a load bearing structure formed by a graphene layer.
