The apparatus has a throttle lever unit with a lever 102; a motor 132 connected to the lever; a position sensor (fig.20,146); and a controller (fig.20,136). The controller receives an input from the position sensor, if the lever is at one of one or more predetermined positions 124a-124d the controller causes the motor to operate in a reverse direction RM to the lever’s direction of motion RL to rotate the lever. The lever may be connected to a drive wheel 126, with a drive belt 134 connecting the motor to the drive wheel. The apparatus may also include at least one processor (fig.20,138) which is able to read a program (fig.20,144) stored on at least one memory (fig.20,140) to operate the motor. The apparatus may be used on an aircraft or a flight simulator, the predetermined positions corresponding to a level of thrust a pilot should avoid during a given flight condition. Alternatively, the predetermined position may correspond to a detent position 124a-124d of the throttle.
