A pedal feel simulator (PFS) for an automotive electronic braking system, e.g. a brake-by-wire (BBW) system. The stroke simulator comprises a piston 7’ with an end movably sliding in a bore b’ of a housing 4’ and another end (bottom of fig. 4) subjected to hydraulic pressure, e.g. from a master cylinder of the braking system. The simulator also includes a steel spring 6’, a closing cover 1’ and a rubber spring 2’ with a retaining cup 8’. An end of the steel spring 6’ is supported upon the retaining cup 8’, another end of the steel spring being supported and guided by a hollow cylinder c’ on the end of the piston 7’ sliding in the bore. The retaining cup may be a hollow open-ended cylinder made of metal sheet, with rubber material moulded to completely cover the end wall and perimeter wall but not the open end. There may be a central axial inwardly projecting recess on the cup (see figure 3b).
