An aircraft catcher bracket comprises a mounting section (24, figure 2), a C-shaped bracket body 22, with first and second ends separated by a gap, and a first gate 26 mounted to the first end of the bracket body by a first pivot 28, which can rotate about the pivot between a closed position where the first gate bridges the gap to form a ring for retaining a shaft 6, and an open position where the first gate is displaced within the bracket body to form an opening for receiving a shaft into the catcher bracket. Preferably the shaft is a drive shaft for driving aircraft wing components such as leading edge slats.
