The application refers to a sea going vessel e.g. a barge that transforms sea water into elongated ice sheets that reflect solar heat from the earth. The hold 5 of the vessel stores liquid air that cools sea water that passes through an open ended metal tunnel 6,7 that runs from the stern to the bow of the vessel. The metal walls of the tunnel are chilled by the liquid air, thereby turning the sea water to slush and then ice as the vessel moves forward and pushes sea water into the tunnel. Within the tunnel at least one heat exchange moulding tube is position that creates a pipe-line within the elongated ice sheet. The pipe-line allows liquid air to be pumped into the ice sheet either via pumps 2 and the heat exchange mould or liquid pumps and fuel installations that may be established at regular intervals along the ice sheet, the liquid air maintains the temperature and quality of the ice lanes. The liquid air may be moved by the liquid air pumps 2, and the liquid air may be created using a pumping or compression system. Ten barges may advance in parallel to form larger ice sheets.
