An articulated vehicle has barrier assemblies 24 on opposing side walls and extending at least partly between a tractor unit 2 and a trailer unit 4; preferably, the barriers are for closing gaps (18, Figure 1) between tractor unit 2 and trailer unit 4. Typically the barrier assemblies 24 each include a sheet material skirt 30, 30’ whose length changes in response to the respective positions of the tractor unit and trailer unit and to subsequent changes of these positions; rollers 40 may be provided to store skirts 30, 30’. Part of each barrier 24 may be fixed and another part may be of variable length. The barriers may disengage when the vehicle is travelling above a predefined speed. A barrier assembly is also provided.
