A wireless point machine 20 may comprise a wireless network interface 21 and internal power source 22. The network interface 21 may be configured to enable communication between the point machine 20 and an external entity N which provides command signals for a set of points P. The point machine 20 may have a second network interface 25 for wireless communication with the set of points P. The point machine may receive first and/or second diagnostic information about the set of points P via the second network interface 25. The diagnostic information may also be transmitted to the external entity N. The internal power source may be a fuel cell, a solar fuel cell or a battery. The diagnostic information may be used to evaluate performance of the points P or determine whether adjustments are required.
