Launch and recovery system, preferably for use with a vehicle (3, figure 5) of a submersible power plant (1, figure 5), comrpsing an arched davit 16, rotatably attached at a first end 18 to a platform such as a marine vessel or pier, and pivotally connecting at a second end 20 to a cradle arrangement 21, comprising two prongs 22 and a cradle base 23. The recovery system also comprises a strut management system (39, figure 7a), which may comprise a semi-buoyant yoke (40, figure 7a) or a pair of retaining parts (43, 46, figure 8a) and a wedge (44, figure 8a). Preferably the cradle can rotate about vertical, transverse and longitudinal axes. There is also disclosed a method of use of such a launch and recovery system.
