A head restraint assembly 100 for a seat, comprising a movable head rest portion 102 defining at least a part of a head rest surface 108, 109. The movable head rest portion 102 is pivotally mounted to a housing 101 via a linkage mechanism 130 for adjustment of the rest surface 108, 109 angle relative to the housing 101, e.g. between stowed and deployed positions. Preferably, the lower edge of the head rest portion 102 is moved in the forward direction when deployed, away from the housing 101. A reclining rear passenger vehicle seat comprising the head restraint assembly may be reclined to a slouch mode, in which the head rest portion 102 may be deployed, supporting the occupant head in a raised or upright position so that the passenger can look forward, e.g. to read a book. The head rest portion may be a tilt-out pillow and may further comprise left and right, hinged side or wing pillow portions (2, figure 8). The head rest portion 102 may be electronically moved or manually pulled out from a recess 120 in the housing 101. Motors (140, 150, figure 3) may move the housing 101 relative to a seat assembly 10.
