A damping cartridge DC intended to be integrated into anti-locking brake systems for motor vehicles, e.g. servo-assisted, anti-locking brake systems. The damping cartridge DC is located in a valve block B between a pump P and a low pressure accumulator LPA. Damping cartridge DC comprises a plurality of damping membranes 101 which are mounted in an elongated hollow body (106, fig 7) and a pressure retention valve (PRV) in a fluid path between the low pressure accumulator LPA and the pump P. Each damping membrane 101 has a double circular groove (g) and is divided by a diametric cut into a flared half (111) forming a pocket and a flat half. When the pressure retention valve (PRV) opens the fluid path between the low-pressure accumulator LPA and the pump P, the flared halves (111) are filled with braking fluid and extend so as to dissipate pulsations induced in the braking fluid by the pump P. Also claimed is a valve block containing the damping cartridge.
